The Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) was enacted in under Title XXI of the Social Security Act and has since provided critical health coverage to children in families with low to moderate incomes.

The Bureau was created in “to investigate and report upon all matters pertaining to the welfare of children and child life among all. Children’s health includes the study of possible environmental causes of children’s illnesses and disorders, as well as the prevention and treatment of environmentally mediated diseases in children and infants.

Children are highly vulnerable to the negative health consequences associated with many environmental exposures. The terminology used to describe people with disabilities has changed over time. The Minnesota Department of Human Services (“Department”) supports the use of “People First” language.

Although outmoded and offensive terms might be found within documents on the Department’s website, the Department does not endorse these terms. Tobacco cessation is a key component of OSH’s comprehensive approach to prevent and reduce tobacco use.
